Planning Bill Will Still Go Through Despite Objections

While enjoying the gentle repose of the long Summer recess,I have been mulling over the Planning Bill which is making its slow way through Parliament.Not unusually the Bill had a mixed reception from the various interest groups on which its provisions fall. It goes without saying that Friends of the Earth were hard to please,but then when are they not? FOE was wary of the new proposed Infrastructure Planning Commission which is to be unelected and it did not seem likely to be consoled by the Government's explanation that the Commission was not unlike the Bank of England Monetary Policy Committee which,at one time,was thought to be one of Gordon Brown's better ideas when he was Chancellor.
