Soil nails have been used to stabilise highways embankments on the A30 at Yareombe and A381 at Totnes in Devon. Regular monitoring by Devon County Council highways engineers had revealed cracking of the carriageways.Analysis of the surveys by consulting engineers,Frederick Sherrell indicated very low safety factors on both embankments and a contract was placed with South West Highways to rectify the situation as a matter of urgency.
