M25 widening will be UK's biggest ever roads project

Balfour Beatty's Connect Plus consortium is working with the Highways Agency after being named preferred bidder for the UK's biggest ever roads project on the M25 motorway. Connect Plus, which also includes contractor Skanska, consultant Atkins and infrastructure operator Egis, hopes to reach financial close on the ￡5 billion design, build, finance and operate deal by the end of this year. Balfour Beatty chief executive Ian Tyler said: "Our team has all the experience and technical skills to deliver the work on time, on budget and to specification and we look forward to successfully completing the next stage of the tender."
