Last year the UK faced the coldest December in 100 years; this extreme weather had a tremendous adverse impact on the roads. This cold spell led to a number of visual road defects such as cracking, potholes and patching; that now need to be rectified but at local authorities' expense.Matt Scarsbrook, Advanced Technical Service Engineer in the Traffic Safety Systems division at 3M said: "The UK's road infrastructure is essential in the day-to-day running of the country. Prolonged road works or poor road surfaces can have a huge impact on everyday life, hampering seemingly simple tasks such as travelling to work or school due to long delays or diversions, not to mention the safety risks that poor roads can pose.
