A1 scheme moves step closer

Procurement for a £9.7 million scheme on the A1 at Elkesley in Nottinghamshire has moved a step closer after the plans were reprieved in a government review.The proposal comprises replacing two junctions to improve safety and make journey time more reliable and must now face a public enquiry. 'The improvements will make it easier for local residents to join and leave the Ai as well as providing an alternative route to Retford which avoids the trunk road," said roads minister Mike Penning.
