Swathe of schemes to go-ahead

A swathe of small-to-medium-sized roads schemes in England has got the go-ahead as part of government plans to remove bottlenecks on motorways and A roads. A total of 57 schemes that are valued at ￡170 million are included in the programme, including an ￡11 million widening of junction four of the M5 near Bromsgrove, with work expected to start by next year or 2014. The projects are due for completion by the end of the 2015 financial year.
