Six councils join roadwork's scheme

Six new councils have joined the London Permit Scheme designed to cut the disruption caused by roadworks. Bexley, Havering, Kingston, Merton, Sutton and Tower Hamlets will now have more power to coordinate work on their roads as well as taking tough action against companies breaking the rules -including issuing fines of up to £5,000.
