Give us the cash to prove pothole prevention is better than cure

The message on preventive maintenance seems to be finally filtering through at Whitehall. Last month's Pothole Review from the Department for Transport put the "prevention is better than cure" ethos at the top of its agenda. That is certainly encouraging for the highways sector. But now we need to see those words backed up with money to keep our infrastructure fit to drive on.
