Balfour Beatty was the UK's most successful contractor in terms of winning roads work last year. Glenigan's latest exclusive quarterly orders survey for Highways shows that Balfour Beatty bagged more than £900m-worth of roads work in 2011 despite a quiet final quarter for the UK's biggest contractor. Ringway was the biggest winner in the last three months of 2011, bagging £400 million-worth of roads work including a £300 million term maintenance deal for Shropshire County Council that was clinched just before Christmas.
