Building bridges

Bridges form a vital part of our road network but they are also its weakest link; yet by their very nature, these structures are under constant pressure as the volume of traffic wears away at not just the surface material, but their structural integrity too as pressure is exerted through regular movement and vibration. Design and construction that incorporates factors to minimise this inevitable deterioration and regular maintenance are both essential to ensure this part of our vital infrastructure is in the best possible shape to withstand the demands it has to cope with.
