Amey, Balfour Beatty, EM Highway Services Limited, Ferrovial and Skanska are all understood to have submitted bids by the Highways Agency's deadline of 12 July for the Area 9 Asset Support Contract. The five-year deal covering the West Midlands is expected to start in January 2014 and see spending of between £137 million and £159.4 million per annum. Balfour Beatty, BAM Nuttall, Carillion and Eurovia/Ringway are chasing an estimated £8 million contract to build a link road between Wilmore Road and Holmleigh Way in Derby for the city council. Work also includes construction of temporary and permanent bridges and junction works. A start on site is pencilled in for early next year with work taking around six months to complete.
