Delivering parking reform

The good management of car parks is essential to successful town centres and high streets. Motorists want to park in accessible and safe car parks that represent good value for money and they want to be treated fairly should the need arise to take enforcement action. The British Parking Association (BPA) established an Approved Operator Scheme in 2007 based on a code of practice designed to raise standards in the su :tor. The code of practice was developed in partnership with consumer and motoring organisations who sit on BPA boards to ensure that the code is balanced and fair. Operators are audited for compliance with the code, receive sanctions for non-compliance and can be expelled (seven members have been expelled in recent years).
