Team work at its best

During the unprecedented rainfall of winter 2013, EM Highway Services (now Kier) worked with multiple partners, including the army, to support flood relief work in the community. Due to unprecedented levels of rainfall during the Caterham Bourne River in the London Borough of Croydon (LBC) had been steadily rising and reached critical levels in February 2014. As a result of the continuing rising levels, the water treatment plant at Kenley was at risk of being flooded. Had this been allowed to happen, the plant would have had to be shut down resulting in over 80,000 homes water supply being cut off.
