It is estimated that one million people in the UK work in different engineering and technician roles. Those with a recognised level of skill and experience are eligible for professional registration with the Engineering Council at three different grades for each level of competence: Engineering Technician (EngTech) being the junior level, Incorporated Engineer (IEng) and the most senior level Chartered Engineer (CEng).
