Investing in the road ahead

It is hard to imagine potholes, one of the many blights affecting the UK road network, being fixed by pensioners with a can-do attitude. Mr Gangadhara Tilak Katnam, an Indian pensioner, has mended roughly 1,244 potholes. So how can UK pensioners contribute without contravening various health and safety requirements? Investment by pension schemes could be the answer. Although what are their incentives for doing so? Apart from their members avoiding making those delightful calls to their motor insurers to claim for pothole damage or to the 'Fill that Hole' campaign, there could be a healthy return on infrastructure investment.
