Highways HEngland and its contractors, A-one+ together with King Highway Products, took on the challenge of resurfacing a three-mile stretch of the A63 outside Hull, Yorkshire, while battling the elements and a tough deadline. The hot weather proved to be only one of the challenges they faced as nearly 6,000 tonnes of resurfacing and deep road reconstruction needed to take place in a 48-hour window. That is enough to cover just over five premiership football pitches.
