Making a plan come together

B Back in 2008, the Planning Act brought in a new and unified system for consenting major infrastructure in England and Wales. This system applies to projects across a range of sectors including highways. By providing a time-limited process, in which various statutory consents may be dealt with in a single package, with the principle of development already established through National Policy Statements, the 2008 regime provides a major change from the pre-existing, lengthy, multi-consent regimes previously required for Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects (NSIPs).
