I have told you all the story of the young fish and the old fish, haven't I? Well, quick recap. Two young fish are heading back home one day when an older fish swims past and calls out: 'Hey, how's the water?' The two young fish nod and smile politely; then one turns to the other and whispers: 'What the hell is water?' The unknown unknowns are often seen as the biggest danger to predicting and understanding the future, but that which we take for granted or simply don't consider is often our biggest drawback to understanding the here and now.
