The Government's 2017 Industrial Strategy white paper identified Al and data as one of four 'Grand Challenges' and aimed to put the UK at the forefront of the Al and data revolution. But opinion on the issue is divided. Some of the highest profile figures in the world of technology such as Elon Musk have warned of Al becoming an 'immortal dictator', while others such as Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg think it will be fine. Fortunately for now, or perhaps unfortunately, it is up to us mere mortals to weigh up the pros and cons.
