CITB Chief Executive Sarah Beale looks at the job opportunities available in UK construction and how industry can modernise the sector. One of the biggest challenges facing the construction industry is attracting new talent. Plenty of diverse job opportunities exist: CITB estimates that 168,500 roles will be created in UK construction between now and 2023. However, filling those vacancies won't be easy. There are numerous barriers to overcome. These include the likely restrictions on recruiting migrant workers when the UK leaves the EU, which could push the number of vacancies even higher; greater competition from other sectors; rising costs and squeezed margins.
