摘要

In the last decade, the Scottish Government has worked tirelessly to deliver major infrastructure improvements across the country. The £1.3bn upgrade to the cross-Forth transport corridor - the centre of which is the new Queensferry Crossing, the longest three-tower cable-stayed bridge in the world - is just one example of the huge investment placed in connecting people and places. While increasing accessibility and reducing congestion is essential in urban areas, rural connectivity is also a critical part of the country's investment plan. Rural Scotland makes up 20% of its total population, and roughly 98% of its entire land area. For those living in these remote communities, reliable transport infrastructure and bridge crossings are fundamental to economic and social wellbeing.
