SummitSkills reacts to government response on Richard Review

SummitSkills, the sector skills council for the building services engineering sector, is urging the Government to remember the needs of employers of SMEs and micro-businesses following its response to the review of apprenticeships by Doug Richard, published last week. In addition to publishing its response to The Future of Apprenticeships in England: Next Steps from the Richard Review, the Government started a formal consultation on its plans to 'redefine apprenticeships'. Plans include outcome-focused apprenticeships, an end-of-apprenticeship 'holistic' test and all apprentices working towards a Level 2 qualification in English and maths if they have not already achieved this.
