A Second Tutorial on Enhanced Tubular Heat Exchangers

As a follow-up and (why not?) counterresponse (dare I?) to Ken Bell's editorial "A Tutorial on Compact Heat Exchangers" appearing in Heat Transfer Engineering (vol. 17, no. 1, 1996), I have a few opinions to share on this topic, having now spent 16 years in the area of enhanced heat transfer research and in the design of conventional and enhanced tubular heat exchangers for the petrochemical, refrigeration and air-conditioning, geothermal power, wood pulp, etc., industries.
