Girard Equipment worked with a number of interests in the North American road tanker industry to create a reliable, vapour-tight recovery system and supporting piping that is easy to clean and designed specifically for use on US domestic road tankers. "It has been almost ten years since we produced our first device and demand has been steadily increasing every year," says Tim Girard, president of Girard Equipment. "This is despite a lack of any sweeping national mandate or laws requiring that all road tanker operators adopt the practice of vapour recovery on road tankers operating in the US. Most carriers and chemical producers recognise that vapour recovery is in everyone's best interests and being proactive and cooperative in finding new ways to reduce emissions of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) should stand as a prime example of industry and government working together toward a common goal."
