Wolseley To Axe 2,000 Jobs

Wolseley, which owns Plumb Center, Build Center, Drain Center and Bathstore, plans to close 200 branches and axe around 2,000 jobs in the UK. Trading profit for the UK in the three months ending October 31 was down 65% with revenue down 10%. The job cuts are expected to reduce annual costs at the Reading-based company by ￡80m.
