A Bulgarian worker has come to me in tears saying he is being repeatedly bullied and undermined by an elderly colleague and being told to 'f-off back to Bulgaria'. I believe he is telling me the truth. What do I do? This is a very sensitive area and often ends up with tribunal procedure and garish publicity. As a result it needs to be handled very carefully. The first thing to do is to call in the elderly colleague, sending the Bulgarian employee back to work if he is happy with that and telling him that you will be dealing with the matter immediately.
