IMO-Regulations and Safety Aspects of HSLC

Last year IMO has adopted two new and very important regulations. The »High Speed Craft (HSC)«-Code became part of the SOLAS-Convention from January 1996 and thereby recognise the new safety philosophy for fast sea transportation. The »Interna-tional Safety Management (ISM)«-Code will become part of the SOLAS-Convention from July 1998. Det Norske Veritas started early to develop design and construction ideas regarding HSLC-vessels. They cooperated internationally to finalize these new IMO-rules, so we feel it fair enough to let them explain themselves these new recommendations here.
