Intelligent engines enter service

First »Intelligent Engines« enter shipping services onboard of two ULCC crude tankers. These diesel engines do not have camshafts any longer. Fuel is injected electronically controlled by a computer. Low emissions are the aim of this common rail type drive. MAN B&W Diesel A/S, Denmark, started developing new diesel en-gine technologies in their test la- boratories in Copenhagen since the early nineties.
