Oil is one of the most important commodities in the world. Many things in our daily life depend on oil. Oil is often found and pumped out of the earth or sea in areas where it is not really consumed. So, in most cases crude oil has to be brought from its well to refineries close to the consumers by pipeline or shipping tankers. By wrong and troublesome shipping oil can also be a threat to our marine environment. To avoid accidents, tanker shipping has to be performed to the highest standards.
