German shipyards - the German shipbuilding market 2007

Against the background of a still growing world trade volume the domestic yards were able to maintain their position as number 4 in the ranking of shipbuilding nations and to improve their order situation. Looming worldwide overcapacities and a lack of skilled workers, however, cause industry and politicians to join forces in order to secure the international compatibility of the German maritime supply industry in the medium run.
