The underwriting year 2012/13 proved to be extremely challenging for the International Group P&I Clubs that provide liability Insurance to over 90% of the world's fleet. The rising number of large losses, that the 13 clubs pool amongst them, weighed down heavy on the technical underwriting results, with all except two (Shipowners', Skuld) posting a combined ratio in excess of 100% and thus an operating loss. Yet, the majority of the clubs achieved a positive net result, buoyed by sparkling investment returns on their asset portfolios. Gard also benefited from its strong presence in other divisions of the marine insurance sector that still delivered profits.%Die Jahresendrallye an den Börsen 2012 kam für die maritimen Haftpflichtversicherer zum richtigen Zeitpunkt.
