A penny saved is a penny earned: the shipbuilding and supply industry as well as engineering firms deliver a broad selection of solutions that can reduce noxious emissions from ships significantly. Apart from specialised exhaust gas cleaning systems such as scrubbers, alternative fuels are moving into the centre of attention. At the global maritime environmental congress (gmec), to be held on 6 September as part of SMM, the overarching topic will be LNG as a ship fuel.
