CANADA DRY

Canada's largest container facility is located at Roberts Bank in British Columbia, close to the US border. It is used primarily for trade between Canada and the US, and the Pacific Rim nations. Port Metro Vancouver estimates that by 2020, container traffic at its ports will quadruple - driven by a rampant China - and with facilities at a number of its ports nearing capacity, a massive expansion programme is planned. As part of a larger scheme, which will see the port authority's capacity increase by 3.2M, Twenty-foot Equivalent Units (TEUs), a new third berth is being constructed at the existing Deltaport terminal at Roberts Bank. Roberts Bank can accommodate 900,000 TEUs of freight container traffic; the new berth will increase this figure by 400,000 TEUs.
