The Cooling Prize is the premier event for up-and-coming young geotechnical engineers and the 2012 event is now open to entries. The 43rd Cooling Prize Competition will be held on 15 March 2012 at Queen's University, Belfast. Entrants are being sought from engineers who will be under 30 years of age on 31 December 2012. Entrants must write a paper on a topic dealing with the engineering behaviour of the ground, on subjects ranging from description of an industrial design or construction project through to development of a new piece of equipment or research. The aim of the competition is to encourage young engineers to write their first technical paper, so equal merit will be given to high-quality industrial experience and state-of-the-art research. If your paper is selected you will be asked to present it and take questions on your subject at the event in Belfast.
