Jack up barge supports Lake Windermere site investigation

Fugro Engineering Services installed a 44t jack-up drilling barge on Lake Windermere in November as part of ground investigations for construction of a new United Utilities sewer. The 12m~2 platform was constructed in the lake at Lakeside, near Newby Bridge, before being towed up Windermere by two Cumbria class launches operated by Windermere Lake Cruises. The rig was used to drill five boreholes and carry out lake bed surveys of the Parsonage Bay area of lake for part of a £5M project due to be completed in 2013.
