Judge grants fresh extension in case against federal highway official

Federal prosecutors and lawyers for Lawrence Cullari, a former Federal Highway Administration official accused of fraud and making false statements, have another two months to work out a plea bargain under an order issued last week by U.S. Magistrate Judge James Clark of New Jersey. In the order entered Friday in the district court case file, Clark wrote that the two sides want more time to negotiate a plea agreement and gave them until Jan. 26 to reach a deal. This is the third such order Clark has issued. A similar extension granted last month expires Nov. 26.
