Industry analysis slams EPA's economic justification for wetland rule

An industry coalition tried yesterday to throw cold water on the Obama administration's economic rationale for a regulatory proposal that would increase the number of streams, creeks and wetlands that receive automatic protection under the Clean Water Act. When U.S. EPA and the Army Corps of Engineers released their proposal in March, they argued the rule would generate $2 in benefits for every $1 in cost. The proposal is aimed at clearing up more than a decade's worth of confusion about the reach of the 1972 law.
