A team of scientists said yesterday they have found traces of previously undetected ozonedepletingrngases in the Earth's atmosphere.rnThe researchers, led by Johannes Laube, an atmospheric chemist at the University of EastrnAnglia in the United Kingdom, identified three industrial chlorofluorocarbons and onernhydrochlorofluorocarbon gas in the air. Those types of gases are banned or being phased outrnunder a global treaty to protect the fragile ozone layer, which guards the planet from ultravioletrnradiation.
