Liberal group wants parks to reflect nation's diversity

The Obama administration and Congress should create new parks and monuments recognizing the role of American Indians and Native Alaskans, African-Americans, Latinos, women and other underrepresented groups, according to a new report from the left-leaning Center for American Progress. The report found that while the United States is becoming more diverse -- half of all newborns are nonwhite -- less than one-fourth of the nation's 460 national parks and monuments recognize or are dedicated to "diverse peoples and cultures."
