Delegates at the Bureau of Indian Affairs Conference in Anchorage, Alaska, are calling on the U.S. State Department to hold boundary dispute hearings with British Columbia over plans to build new mines in the Canadian province. Environmentalists and American Indian groups said yesterday that new mines in northwest British Columbia could be detrimental to Alaska's salmon and tourism industries.
