Defense bill boosts DOE's technology transfer efforts

Provisions to boost the Energy Department's efforts on moving ideas from labs to the marketplace are set to move with the 2015 defense authorization bill awaiting the president's signature. The bill included language that would direct DOE to prioritize spending on technology commercialization, also known as "technology transfer," from the nation's laboratories. It would also require DOE to set "forward-looking" strategy and goals on funds directed toward commercialization of promising technologies.
