Drug-resistant 'super bacteria' found at site of Olympic events -- scientists

Scientists said yesterday that they have detected a drug-resistant "super bacteria" in the waters near Rio de Janeiro, where Olympic sailing events will be held in 2016. Researchers at the Instituto Oswaldo Cruz, considered Brazil's most respected health research center, said they have found bacteria that produce an enzyme called KPC, which makes them resistant to most forms of treatment. The bacteria are normally found in hospitals.
