IGs blast White House for stonewalling probes

Dozens of inspectors general have blasted the Obama administration for withholding information during their investigations. In a letter sent yesterday to prominent lawmakers in both parties, 47 IGs cited instances where they thought access to documents was improperly restricted by the Chemical Safety Board (CSB), the Department of Justice and the Peace Corps. "Refusing, restricting, or delaying an Inspector General's access to documents leads to incomplete, inaccurate or significantly delayed findings or recommendations, which in turn may prevent the agency from promptly correcting serious problems and deprive Congress of timely information regarding the agency's performance," said the IGs in the letter.
