Iowa utility preps to advance lawsuit against farm counties

A potentially precedent-setting lawsuit aiming to force regulation of some forms of agricultural water pollution is poised to move forward this week. The Des Moines Water Works' board of trustees will meet this afternoon to vote on whether to proceed with their suit against three heavily agricultural upstream counties for failing to permit field drainage systems under the Clean Water Act (Greenwire, Jan. 29).
