Carnegie Mellon reels after 40 researchers leave for Uber

A partnership between Carnegie Mellon University and Uber Technologies Inc. has apparently soured after the company poached 40 researchers from the university. The exodus left one of the world's top robotics labs reeling. Carnegie Mellon's National Robotics Engineering Center had already been working on driverless-car technology when it partnered with Uber in February to work on the issue (E&E Daily, June 25, 2014).
