A majority of Republicans support government action to combat climate change, according to a poll conducted by the New York Times, Stanford University and Resources for the Future, a nonpartisan environmental research group. The survey found 61 percent of Republicans said that if nothing is done to reduce emissions, climate change will be a very or somewhat serious problem in the future. Of the Republicans polled, 51 percent said the government should be fighting climate change. The poll also found 48 percent of Republicans said they are more likely to vote for a candidate who supports battling climate change, while 47 percent of Republicans said they believed climate change policies are bad for the economy.
