摘要

A man-made mound of mud and construction waste gave way in southern China on Sunday, leaving 91 missing and burying 33 buildings. The waste site, located just across the border from Hong Kong in Shenzhen, should have been closed in February, but local workers said industrial material has continued to be dumped at the site. The Ministry of Land and Resources said the mud was stacked too steep, "causing instability and collapse." The waste struck factories, low-rise buildings and dormitories in Hengtaiyu Industrial Park located in the city's northwestern Guangming New District, bringing nearby structures down within seconds of impact.
