N.M. top court to hear new evidence on climate, power link

The New Mexico Supreme Court will hear new evidence on the relationship between climate change and coal power generation as the Public Service Company of New Mexico's energy plan faces review by the Land of Enchantment's highest court. PNM, the state's largest electric utility, wants to replace the power from two of four units at its San Juan County coal plant that's being prepared to shut down. Last December, the state's Public Regulation Commission signed off on a plan to allow PNM to continue operating those two units as long as carbon capture measures were installed.
