City's suit against Monsanto may proceed - judge

The city of Spokane, Wash., can proceed with a lawsuit against agrochemical giant Monsanto Co. over pollution in the Spokane River, a federal judge ruled Wednesday. Spokane sued the corporation last year, charging that Monsanto was aware for decades that its products harmed human health and the environment. Monsanto manufactured the nowbanned polychlorinated biphenyls, or PCBs, probable carcinogens that are ubiquitous in the environment.
