A renewable energy company has finished building a $180 million solar farm in Minnesota, making it the largest solar complex in the Midwest and one of the largest in the United States. Swinerton Renewable Energy constructed the North Star Solar project out of 440,000 solar panels on 1.5 square miles of land in Chisago County. Pennsylvania-based Community Energy Solar will operate the facility. "This project is part of our vision to bring utility-scale solar at a competitive price to Minnesota and the broader Midwest," Community Energy President Eric Blank said. "We were drawn to Chisago County as a great combination of available land, welcoming communities and a strong interconnection point that is close to Minneapolis and St. Paul."
